The Norwegian Wild Salmon Centre is a visiting centre and exhibition about the Atlantic salmon, located in beautiful Lærdal in Sogn and Fjordane, on the banks of the River Lærdalselvi, one of the most well-known Salmon River in Norway. Here you will learn about the history of the Atlantic salmon and traditions associated with it. A Museum with films and stories about how the English lords game to Lærdal and started sports fishing in the 1850’s!

You can observe wild salmon and sea-trout in the 20 metre long observatory (aquarium) so close that you can almost touch the fish! Find out the difference between salmon and sea trout’s and catch up award winning film, telling you the story about the struggling life for a salmon. 


Ticket includes:

Exhibition area: ”Walking on your own”. Display in four languages: Norwegian, English, German, and French. Old films and slideshow.

Film:”The fight for life” Lasts 22min – about the life of the Atlantic salmon – seen through the eyes of mother salmon! ”Five languages: Norwegian, English, German, French and Japanese. 

Free access to "Sogn Artcenter", which is located in the same building.

The centre is well suited for everyone, also for wheelchairs.

Visiting centre with gift shop, Lærdal Touristinformation and the local cafe – “Laksen”.
The shop offer souvenirs and varied range of Nordic products, postcard and travel books. 
The cafe serves coffee, tea and refreshments. Cakes and snacks. Small lunches. 
Capacity 50 inside. Plus outside tables. Ask for group menu.

From Flåm (via Lærdal tunnel): 40km – aprox 40min 
From Flåm - via Aurland and the ”snow road”: 50km – aprox 60min. 
From Skjolden harbour-(one ferry) 95km – aprox 2 hours.
