Norwegian Wild salmon center opens June 1st 2019

Season 2019 from June 1st to August 31st. 

Open daily from 11 - 23.

The Norwegian Wild Salmon Centre is a visiting centre and exhibition about the Atlantic salmon, located in beautiful Lærdal in Sogn and Fjordane, on the banks of the River Lærdalselvi, one of the most well-known Salmon River in Norway. Here you will learn about the history of the Atlantic salmon and traditions associated with it. A Museum with films and stories about how the English lords game to Lærdal and started sports fishing in the 1850’s!

You can observe wild salmon and sea-trout in the 20 metre long observatory (aquarium) so close that you can almost touch the fish! Find out the difference between salmon and sea trout’s and catch up award winning film, telling you the story about the struggling life for a salmon. 

 

Restaurant:

In the same building as the center, there is a restaurant serving a la carte-dinner, some days buffets. For the season 2019 the menu contains much venison from the area, some fish and other dishes. The restaurant is also offering buffets and theme evenings some days during the week. The restaurant will open May 1st and stay open till August 31st, opening hours: 11 - 23 every day in June, July and August (opening hours in May: 11 - 17).

Joar SøhoelJoar Søhoel is chef, hunter and fisherman, and he and his crew are offering great, local food at the               "Laksen restaurant" in May, June, July and August 2019.

Ticket to the center includes:

Exhibition area: ”Walking on your own”. Display in four languages: Norwegian, English, German, and French. Old films and slideshow.

Film:”The fight for life” Lasts 22min – about the life of the Atlantic salmon – seen through the eyes of mother salmon! ”Five languages: Norwegian, English, German, French and Japanese

From Flåm - via Aurland and the ”snow road”: 50km – aprox 60min. 
From Skjolden harbour-(one ferry) 95km – aprox 2 hours.
